Connected to Discogs, Stripe, PayPal and your carriers
Vinylogix fills in record data from Discogs, takes card payments through Stripe Connect and PayPal, checks VAT numbers in VIES and sends tracking links for seven carriers. Each connection below lists what it does and where it stops.
Six connections, built in
Each one is part of Vinylogix and you switch it on from your own settings. You need no developer for any of them.
Discogs
Record data
Scan a barcode or enter a Discogs ID and the release fills itself in.
More about DiscogsWhat it does
- Fills in artist, title, label, year, format, genres, tracklist and cover
- Shows the lowest current Discogs price and how many copies are for sale, as a guide when you add a record
- Finds releases by artist and title too, and fills CSV import rows that have a barcode or Discogs ID
What it doesn’t
- List your records on Discogs or change anything there
- Import Discogs orders, messages or feedback
Stripe Connect
Payments
Buyers pay by card on Stripe’s own checkout page; the money lands in your Stripe account.
What it does
- Connects your own Stripe account through Stripe’s onboarding
- Marks the order as paid when the payment comes through
- Opens your Stripe dashboard from Vinylogix settings
What it doesn’t
- Hold your money. Stripe pays out to your bank
- Store card details. Stripe handles them on its own page
PayPal
Payments
Offer PayPal next to, or instead of, card payments.
What it does
- Connects your PayPal business account through PayPal’s sign-up flow
- Sends the payment straight to your PayPal account
- Marks the order as paid once PayPal confirms it
What it doesn’t
- Work without a PayPal business account
- Change PayPal’s own transaction fees
Stripe Tax
VAT
Optional. Let Stripe work out the VAT rate from where you and your buyer are.
What it does
- Calculates VAT at checkout for card payments through Stripe
- Collects the buyer’s VAT number at checkout
- Works with prices that include or exclude VAT
What it doesn’t
- Register you for VAT. You add your registrations in Stripe
- Apply to PayPal payments or orders on request
Shipping carriers
PostNL · DHL · UPS · FedEx · DPD · GLS · Correos
Add a tracking number when you ship and your buyer gets a working link.
What it does
- Builds the tracking link from the carrier and number
- Reads carrier and number from a pasted tracking URL
- Puts the link in the shipping email and on the buyer’s tracking page
What it doesn’t
- Print shipping labels or buy postage
- Pull live delivery status from the carrier
CSV import & export
Your data
Bring a whole stock list in at once, and take your data out whenever you like.
What it does
- Imports records and fills them in from Discogs by barcode or Discogs ID
- Exports your records, orders and clients as CSV
- Offers a sample file to start from
What it doesn’t
- Choose for you when a barcode matches several releases. You pick the right one
- Sync with a spreadsheet automatically
Take payments in three steps
Everything lives under Settings in Vinylogix. Discogs lookups work from day one with nothing to connect.
- Open the Payment tab in Settings and choose Connect. You finish the sign-up on Stripe’s or PayPal’s own site, where they check your business and bank details. Vinylogix never sees your login.
- Pick no tax calculation, one fixed rate of your own, or Stripe Tax for card payments through Stripe. Check a client’s VAT number in VIES with one click. Request orders from EU business buyers in another country with a verified number get reverse charge.
- When you mark an order as shipped, pick the carrier and enter the tracking number, or paste the whole tracking URL. Your buyer gets an email with the link.
Where Vinylogix runs
Vinylogix is hosted on Google Cloud with Firebase for the database and sign-in. This is our own infrastructure. You connect nothing and pay nothing extra for it.
